ASUS A33-U50 laptop battery help and FAQs

How can I maximize the performance of ASUS A33-U50 battery packs?

New ASUS A33-U50 battery packs come in a discharged condition and must be fully charged before use. It is recommended that you fully charge and discharge your new battery two to four times to allow it to reach its maximum rated capacity.

Keep your battery healthy by fully charging and then fully discharging it at least once every two to three weeks. Exceptions to the rule are Li-ion batteries which do not suffer from the memory effect.

It's a good idea to clean dirty battery contacts with a cotton swab and alcohol. This helps maintain a good connection between the battery and your portable device.

Do not leave your battery dormant for long periods of time. We recommend using theASUS A33-U50 battery at least once every two to three weeks. If a battery has not been used for a long period of time, perform the new battery break in procedure described above.

If you don't plan on using the battery for a month or more, we recommend storing it in a clean, dry, cool place away from heat and metal objects. Ni-Cd, NiMH and Li-ion batteries will self-discharge during storage; remember to break them in before use.

Sealed Lead Acid (SLA) batteries must be kept at full charge during storage. This is usually achieved by using special trickle chargers. If you do not have a trickle charger, do not attempt to store SLA batteries for more than three months.

To get maximum performance from your ASUS A33-U50 battery, fully optimize the notebook's power management features prior to use. Power management is a trade off: better power conservation in exchange for lesser computer performance. The power management system conserves battery power by setting the processor to run at a slower speed, dimming the screen, spinning down the hard drive when it's not in use and causing the machine to go into sleep mode when inactive. Your notebook user's guide will provide information relating to specific power management features.

How to deal common laptop battery error messages and fixes?

1.The installed battery may not be properly connected:This is a common error message on Sony Vaio laptops when installing a new laptop battery. The Windows power management software can conflict with the Sony power management software. Follow the link above to remove this message.

2.Genuine battery not attached:This is a common error message on IBM and Lenovo laptops when installing a new laptop battery. All our batteries are 100% compatible with Lenovo and IBM laptops and are often superior to the brand name batteries. Follow the link above to disable the message.

3.Battery only Charging to 80%:This is a common issue with Samsung laptops running Windows 7 and Windows 8. Follow the link to turn off Battery Extender which prevents your laptop from charging to 100%.

How to save ASUS A33-U50 battery power?

To maximize and extend the ASUS A33-U50 battery packs life during each use, follow these 9 laptop battery power saving tips.

Laptop batteries are expensive and need to be replaced every 2-3 years. To maximize and extend the ASUS A33-U50 battery life during each use, follow these 9 laptop battery power saving tips.

1.Adjust the Power Settings - Decrease the screen brightness because the brighter the screen, the more battery power is needed. You can also change how long the laptop needs to be inactive before it goes into sleep/standby/hibernation mode. There are different options ranging from 1 minute to never.

2.Manage Your Wireless - If Wi-Fi is not available or you don't need it on, turn it off by removing the Wi-Fi card, changing your settings to off, or switching to airplane mode.

3.Remove External Devices - Refrain from using a USB card, memory card, or wireless mouse. Even if they aren't in use, they use battery power just being plugged in.

4.Run One Application at a Time - Now is not the time to multi-task. The more applications that are open, the more battery power needed. So, when you are done with one application, close it before opening another.

5.Keep It Cool - Blocking the fan vent on your laptop causes the internal temperature to rise, decreasing efficiency, and increasing battery power. A common mistake is to place the laptop on soft surfaces, such as your lap. Despite what the name implies, it's best to place it on a hard surface whenever possible. The laptop fan also gets dust build-up, which can cause the internal temperature to rise as well. So, be sure to clean the fan using compressed air every couple of months.

6.Keep It Clean - Over time, dust and grime can build up on the battery connection, which could reduce the power delivered to the laptop. Make it a point to clean the battery connection with a cotton ball and rubbing alcohol every couple of months.

7.Avoid Using Adobe Flash - It's a battery killer!

8.Add More Memory - By adding more RAM to your laptop, it allows programs to run using the memory instead of the hard disk drive.

9.Defragment the Hard Drive - Defragmenting the hard drive allows the laptop to operate as efficiently as possible. The defrag tool can be found under system tools and should be done every couple of months.
